Meet of the Week Recap: Arizona Sweeps Wisconsin

TUCSON, Arizona, October 31. ON Halloween night, it was all treats for Arizona and tricks for Wisconsin as the Wildcats swept the Badgers in a SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Meet of the Week. The women downed Wisconsin, 179-120, while the men upended the Badgers, 173-126.

The women's meet proved to be a bit quicker with several B cuts being posted throughout the evening.

Arizona's Hailey DeGolia, Annie Chandler, Lara Jackson and Anna Turner opened the night with a B cut in the women's 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.34.

Wisconsin's Maggie Meyer won the women's 100 back with a B-cut time of 54.76.

A pair of swimmers checked in with B cuts in the women's 100 breast as Chandler won in 1:02.14, while Wisconsin's Ashley Wanland matched the standard in 1:02.38.

Arizona's Julie Stupp clocked a B cut in the women's 200 breast with a winning time of 2:14.25.

Jackson went on to win three titles as she added the women's 100 free (50.73) and anchored the women's 200 free relay squad of Lindsey Kelly, Turner, Ana Agy and Jackson to a win in 1:33.11.

A trio of Badgers earned wins for the women as Maggie Meyer won the 100 back (54.76), Candice Peak took the 200 back title (1:59.87) and Molly Southworth earned the 100 fly title (56.68) thanks to a few Arizona exhibitions.

In the men's meet, Bryan O'Connor claimed three titles for the Wildcats. He won the 100 back (50.18), 200 back (1:48.78) and 200 IM (1:51.76).

Meanwhile, Scott Rice won the 100 fly (50.15) and 200 fly (1:50.28) for Wisconsin, while Kyle Sorensen took the 50 free (21.00) and leadoff the 200 free relay of Sorensen, Wes Lagerhausen, Fraser Roberts and Phil Davies that took the title in 1:22.78 with Arizona exhibitioning the lead relay.

In diving, Wisconsin's Emily Cheffins (293.02), Ciara Rinaudo (278.32) and Arizona's Ainsley Oliver (267.07) cleared the zone standard in the one-meter, while Rinaudo (314.55), Cheffins (294.68) and Oliver (293.86) went 1-2-3 with zone scores in the three-meter.

For the men, Arizona's Ben Grado (373.80), Wisconsin's Caleb Percevecz (346.27), Tim Feyereisen (309.02) and Tyler Dorshorst (302.62) beat the zone score in the one-meter, while Grado (403.79) and Percevecz (352.05) also cleared the zone cut in the three-meter.
