In the men's competition, Hartwick fell for the first time in four meets, as Alfred posted a 136-103 victory. Hartwick jumped out with a great start against the Saxons winning the opening 400 medley relay. Kurt Cedo, Gregg Ducey, Paul Layton and Steve Van Duzer registered the best time by a foursome at Hartwick this season with a 3:41.19. The Hawks then won the 1000 free as Kevin Milkovich clocked a time of 10:05.21, his best of the 2006-07 season.

Looking forward with Hartwick head coach Dale Rothenberger:
We enjoying having this meet with St. Lawrence, as it is always a good meet for us. This weekend will be the first time since before winter training that we will be racing in the sprint events, especially in relays. My team has not done that for awhile, and it is a great opportunity for us to test our speed at this particular juncture of the season. Our women are about four weeks out from the championships season, while our men are five weeks out. We are at a crucial time where we are working on getting that speed before going into the prep and taper phases of our schedule. It is perfect timing for us. We also have a good rivalry with them, and they always give us an opportunity to fine-tune some things with some good competition.

St. Lawrence's Last Time Out:
Alida Gerritsen and Kim Watcke had big meets for the Saint women and Robo Ibler, Chris Woolston and diver Jason Johnson led the Saint men as the men finished fifth and the women sixth at the 2006 Liberty League championships at the University of Rochester in early December. Gerritsen was a two-time champion for the Saints, winning both the 100 and 200 breaststroke and accounted for 59 individual points and 16.5 relay points. Watcke had four top 10 finishes in individual events and was on three relays, accounting for 58 individual points and 20.5 relay points. Ibler was the 50 freestyle champion for the Saint men and swam all four relays accounting for 49 individual points and 28.5 relay points, while Woolston had four top 10 finishes and was on three relay teams to account for 55 individual points and 21.5 relay points during the competition. Johnson finished third in both the one and three meter diving competitions. Union College won the women's team championship with Rochester second in a nine-team field. The Saints scored 350 points, 20.5 behind fifth place Hamilton. Rochester won the men's meet with RPI second in an eight-team field. The Saint men finished with 360 points, 56 behind fourth-place Union.

Looking forward with St. Lawrence head coach Bob Clemmer:
We will continue our storied rivalry against a formidable opponent, Hartwick College this weekend. On the men's side, SLU has benefited from an exceptional freshman class but we will have a tough task as 2006 UNYSCSA champions Hartwick look like they are again the class of the conference. As for the women, this has been a very strong rivalry in recent years as both teams match up well against each other. We have a strong upperclass group as Hartwick's freshman and diving should make for another close battle.
