Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps' Last Time Out:
CMS's divers last competed at the Bulldog Diving Invite in Redlands, Calif., on Nov. 18. Mark Emanuel, Kat Shultis and Carmen-Rosa Wishart shined with top finishes.

Emanuel finished third on the one-meter with 252.25 points, and sixth on the three-meter with 245.75 points. Shultis placed eighth on the one-meter with 175.50 points, while Wishart took 11th on the three-meter with 129.95 points.

The swimmers last competed at the Bulldog Pentathlon in Redlands, Calif., on Nov. 11. Quirina Mitchell took second in the overall women's event, while Shea Manning finished ninth in the men's competition.

Looking forward with Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps' head coach Charles Griffiths:
We're excited to jump into our first dual meets of the season with conference competition this weekend. We'll see the 200 stroke events for the first time this year, setting us up for the Las Vegas Invite and the second-half of our season.

The Athenas have a growing tradition of being "The Best in the West" and we're eager to test ourselves. The Stags' meet with Occidental last January was thrilling and we know it's going to be an energized environment on Saturday. The diving competition will be especially exciting, with as many as five guys between the teams capable of scoring near NCAA consideration status.

Occidental's Last Time Out:
Occidental competed at the Speedo Cup in Irvine, Calif., when the men and the women competed solely on the final day of swimming on Nov. 18. The men ended up accumulating 40 points, while the women grabbed 14 points.

The men were led by Mike Heffner in the 1650 free (39th/20:38.84), Dickson Fai in the 200 back (36th/1:57.45), Adam Kantor in the 100 free (89th/50.66), Jeven Dovey in the 200 breast (38th/2:20.99) and Matt Harter in the 200 fly (49th/2:10.59).

The women were led by Kayla Schott-Bresler in the 1650 free (48th/20:03.87) and the 200 breast (80th/2:45.50), Eileen McMillan in the 200 back (60th/2:20.58), Eliza Callwood in the 100 free (88th/57.60) and Kelsey Fuller in the 200 fly (57th/2:22.25).

Looking forward with Occidental's head coach Peggy Carl:
The OXY-CMS men's dual meet was a big deal in the late 70's / early 80's. After about 1981, we fell off the map a bit. In the last few years though, we have come back in a big way, losing last year's meet by a mere point. Understandably, our guys are anxious to extract a bit of payback, especially since the meet is on our home turf this year.

As to the women's meet, I am looking forward to seeing how our girls race some of the best swimmers in our conference. The Athenas were ninth at NCAA's last year, so we know they're a very good team. Hopefully, we can give them some good races, but they are at a different level than we are at this point.

I have a great deal of respect for Charlie and his staff and we have a great rapport, which makes this meet really fun for both teams. This dual meet is definitely the highlight of the fall season and we hope to have a huge crowd out in support. I'm really looking forward to some close races and plenty of excitement.
