JERUSALEM, Israel, November 24. MAX Jaben, who previously tested positive for the anabolic steroid boldenone, was given a one-year suspension by the Israel Swimming Association according to various media reports from the country.
Jaben, who likely could have been hit with a two-year ban, was shown some leniency by his country's association since the positive test was his first offense. Also, the association took into consideration that he missed the chance to compete at the Olympics.
Jaben's will be able to return to the sport in June of 2009, since the one-year suspension is retroactive.
