Masters World Record, Five European Records Downed in Sweden

PHOENIX, Arizona, March 25. AT the Swedish Open Masters championships, Per Svanberg beat a short course meters Masters world record in the 35-39 age group.

Representing Solna Sundbyberg, Svanberg swam a 28.63 in the 50-meter breaststroke, wiping out the old record of 28.75 set in 2002 by USA Olympian Ron Karnaugh.

In addition to Svanberg's world record, five European Masters records were set at the meet:

Women's 800 free, 45-49 age group: Susanna Rosen, 9:36.13

Women's 400 free, 80-84 age group: Britt Grilli, 7:53.24

Women's 400 free, 60-64 age group: Margareta Rainer, 5:39.11

Women's 400 free, 45-49 age group: Susanna Rosen, 4:38.86

Women's 100 backstroke, 45-49 age group: Susanna Rosen, 1:10.40
