NEW COMMIT: 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier and two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Morgan Liberto has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Alabama beginning in the 2018-2019 season.

Liberto, who attends Howard High School in Ellicott City, Maryland and swims for the year-round Retriever Aquatic Club, will bring back, fly, and IM versatility to Tuscaloosa. Liberto has demonstrated strengths in both the distances of the back and fly and also possesses a solid 200 IM. Her top SCY times include:

  • 100 back—54.90
  • 200 back – 1:56.66
  • 100 fly—54.56
  • 200 fly – 2:01.16
  • 200 IM – 2:02.85

Liberto’s best time in the 200 Back would have put her at the top of the C final at the 2017 SEC Championships and she would have been just outside scoring range in the 100 back and 100 fly. She will join a training group led by back/fly specialists Katie Coughlin and Katie Kelsoe, who will be seniors when Liberto joins the Crimson Tide.
