Mary Washington Sweeps Howard

FREDERICKSBURG, Virginia, October 6. THE University of Mary Washington men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2012-13 dual meet season with a sweep of Division I Howard University on Saturday at Goolrick Natatorium. The women won, 158-76, and the men won, 169-75.

For the women, winners included the 200 yard medley relay (Lindsay Ancellotti, Hannah Hagy, Amber Kerico, Stephanie Hallock) at 1:53.44; Alex Parrish in the 1000 yard freestyle at 11:32.62; Stephnaie Hallock in the 200 freestyle at 2:02.23; Amber Kerico in the 100 breaststroke at 1:09.11 and the 100 butterfly at 59.83; Catherine Perrin in the 200 butterfly at 2:30.55; Robin Brazier in the 100 freestyle at 56.52; Katie Fago in the 200 backstroke at 2:16.46; Alex Parrish in the 200 breaststroke at 2:38.63; Jessica Singer in the 500 freestyle at 5:21.32; and Abby Cox in the 200 IM at 2:16.80.

The men saw race wins from the 200 medley relay (Nick Eckhoff, Peter Slattery, Alex Anderson, Matt Garstka) at 1:37.84; Andrew Garafolo in the 1000 freestyle at 10:14.14 and the 500 freestyle at 5:00.96; Eckhoff in the 200 freestyle at 1:47.14; Michael Yelmgren in the 100 backstroke at 53.50 and the 200 backstroke at 2:00.84; Slattery in the 100 breaststroke at 1:01.22 and the 200 breastsroke at 2:19.30; Anderson in the 50 freestyle at 21.04 and the 100 fly at 50.76; Garstka in the 100 freestyle at 49.58; and the 200 free relay (Eckhoff, Mike Hudgins, Vance Solseth, Anderson) at 1:27.62.
