Mark Warkentin, Erica Rose Claim 25K National Titles in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS BEACH, Florida, May 21. MARK Warkentin of the Santa Barbara Swim Club and Erica Rose, swimming unattached, claimed the 25K title at the 2007 USA Swimming Open Water National Championships held in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., from May 17-21.

Warkentin clocked a 5:20:47 to earn a commanding win over second-place finisher John Kenny of Germantown Academy. Kenny wound up second in 5:38:22, while Brooks Felton, swimming unattached, took third in 5:54:17.

In the women's race, Rose clocked a 6:12:51, while Micha Burden of Mission Viejo placed second in 6:21:51. Krista Mantay of City of Pembroke Pines rounded out the top three in 6:29:15.
