Marist Swimming and Diving released its full 2017-18 schedule (date). The Red Foxes’ women’s and men’s squads will compete simultaneously in eight dual meets and battle three schools at the H2ounds Invitational during the regular season. Marist has also added a new Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent for the upcoming campaign.

The annual Red & White Challenge will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, in McCann Natatorium. The Red Foxes’ intrasquad scrimmage will serve as their final preseason tuneup. Less than one week later, Oct. 13, Marist will battle MAAC foe Canisius at 10 a.m. in Buffalo to begin the regular season. The Red Foxes’ home opener is slated for 6 p.m. Oct. 19 against Fordham followed by another non-conference clash at Rider at 1 p.m. Oct. 28. Rider and Marist have combined for 19 of the last 22 MAAC titles for the men and women since 2007. The Marist women have won 40 consecutive MAAC dual meets and their winning streak in the conference dates back to 2009.

Marist’s lone November meet will be held on the 18th when it hosts Fairfield at 1 p.m. For the eighth consecutive year the Red Foxes will square off against MAAC rivals Iona and Saint Peter’s and also go up against Loyola at the H2ounds Invitational in Baltimore. The Marist men finished atop the field at last year’s tri-meet and reached 100 MAAC dual meet victories all time in program history.

Following a weeklong training trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Red Foxes will head to Binghamton for their first meet of 2018 on Thursday, January 11. The meet will be the first of four to begin at 1 p.m. in a stretch that includes a home competition against Boston College on Jan. 13 and the non-conference finale at Southern Connecticut State on Jan. 20.

For the first time in program history, Marist will face Bryant at 1 p.m. Jan. 27 in the regular season finale on Senior Day. The Bulldogs’ men’s team competes in the MAAC and finished right behind the Red Foxes for third place at last year’s conference championships. There was a 78.5 point differential between Marist and Bryant on the men’s side. Bryant’s women placed second at last year’s Northeast Conference Championships.

The 2018 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships will be co-hosted by Canisius and Niagara from Feb. 14-17 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York. Marist’s women will seek the program’s ninth straight conference title and the men will look to improve on a runner up finish from last year. Between the men and women, the Red Foxes have captured 30 MAAC titles since 1996.

In the next round of postseason competition Marist will head to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The dates and location of the regional conference meet are to be determined. The Red Foxes have had an ECAC champion in a diving event each of the last five seasons. At the 2017 meet current captains Megan Berardelli and Peter Gallino placed first on the women’s and men’s 1- and 3-meter boards.

Divers who meet national qualifying standards will end the year at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships from March 5-7 at Rutgers University.

Live results from all Marist regular season home meets as well as postseason competitions will be available for paid subscribers to the Meet Mobile app.
