Marist College Women’s Swimming and Diving Welcomes Four New Freshmen

The Marist women’s swimming and diving team, Head Coach Larry VanWagner, and Diving Head Coach Melanie Bolstad are proud to announce four incoming freshmen, three divers and one swimmer, to the 2015-16 roster. Three out of the four members of the program’s Class of 2019 hail from the Empire State and one is from California.

Grace Casolo – Diver – Mercy High School/Stanford Diving – Woodside, Calif.

Casolo qualified for the Central Coast Section Meet and was a varsity letter holder all four years of high school. She was a team captain her junior and senior seasons and received Second Team All-League honors for both swimming and diving.

Aileen Fitzpatrick – Free – St. Anthony’s High School/Team Suffolk – Huntington, N.Y.

A 10-year member of the Metropolitan Swimming Association, Fitzpatrick was a senior Metropolitan qualifier all four years of high school. She competed in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay at the state title meet. For all four years of high school Fitzpatrick was a finalist at the Catholic High School Athletic Association Championships and an All-League Award recipient. She won the St. Anthony’s High School Duns Scotus Award three times.

Lauren Katz – Diver – Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School/Flip & Rip Dive Club – Ballston Lake, N.Y. 

Katz qualified for the state title meet the last four years of her high school career, placing twice. She won a sectional championship her junior and senior seasons and placed second at the meet as a freshman and sophomore. Katz has competed in the regional title meet six times, the zone meet three times and the Amateur Athletic Union national title meet twice. Academically, she was a member of the Math, Science, and National Honor Socieities and secretary of the Art Club. Katz qualified for Academic All-American honors her senior year and has been a scholar-athlete at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake every year of her varsity diving career.

Jessica Rieger – Diver – Jamesville-Dewitt High School  Syracuse, N.Y.

Rieger was a member of the Section III Class B Championship team at Jamesville-Dewitt High School and competed at the state championship her senior year. She was captain of the varsity girl’s golf team and a member of the French, Math and National Honor Societies.

The Red Foxes will look to capture their seventh straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and 21st overall during the 2015-16 season.
