Margaret Aroesty Leads Fast Morning on Day 3 of the 2017 NCSA Junior Nationals

The third day of prelims of the 2017 NCSA Junior National Championships began with the women’s and men’s 200 freestyles. CSP Tideriders’s Genevieve Pfeifer claimed the top seed on the women’s side with her time of 1:47.26. Just behind her was Sierra Schmidt, representing Club Wolverine, who swam to a time of 1:47.62 for second. Third place went to Ella Tierney of NASA Wildcat Aquatics, who touched in 1:47.67.

In the men’s 200 freestyle, David Madej of SwimStrongsville led the morning, finishing first in 1:37.60. Baylor’s Robert Freeman followed in 1:37.68 for second. Jack Dolan of Rockwood Swim Club was third in 1:37.85.

York’s Jacqueline Clabeaux finished first in the women’s 50 breaststroke, touching in a time of 28.09. New Trier’s Ingrid Wall placed second in 28.40. Last night’s 100 breaststroke champion, Margaret Aroesty of Long Island, came in third just behind Wall at 28.45.

William Myhre of St. Charles topped the men’s 50 breaststroke prelims, swimming to a time of 25.07. Reece Whitley, representing Penn Charter, was second behind Myhre in 25.25. Machine’s Thomas Hallock picked up the third spot in tonight’s final with a time of 25.46.

After finishing third in the women’s 50 breaststroke, Long Island’s Aroesty turned around to pick up the top seed in the women’s 400 IM with a time of 4:13.42. She was followed by Marlins of Raleigh’s Julia Poole, who finished second in 4:14.05. Aroesty’s teammate, Kristen Romano, placed third in 4:14.62.

Lane 4’s Caleb Aman finished first in the men’s 400 IM with a time of 3:51.67. Aman was just ahead of Casey Storch of Machine, who touched in 3:51.78. Eric Knowles of the Dayton Raiders placed third in 3:52.35.

14 year old Phoebe Bacon of Nation’s Capital led the women’s 50 butterfly with her time of 24.30. Julia Cook of the Aggie Swim Club came in second with a time of 24.53. Blue Dolfins’s Abigail Gibbons placed third in 24.53.

In the men’s 50 butterfly, Luke Sobolewski swam the top time of the morning, touching in 21.76. He was followed by Kingfish’s Camden Murphy, who placed second in 21.80. Tyler Sesvold of St. Charles picked up third place in 21.90.

Fun side note….3 women in A final 200 Free tonight are texas commits..baby longhorns are Evie Pfeifer, ella tierney and logan Shiller. Hook em!
