MAC Championship Psych Sheet Released

The season is coming to a close, and as any good swim fan would know, this is the time records are broken and season-long dreams come true. The Middle Atlantic Conference, which is comprised of Lycoming, Widener, Misericordia, Arcadia, Wilkes, Albright, Messiah, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hood, Stevenson, King’s and Lebanon Valley, will be competing at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, PA. from Feb. 12-15 for their championship meet.

Day One
The meet will open up its first night of races with the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays. The number one seed for the women’s 200 medley relay is Misericordia, who will challenge the event’s 2014 winner, Messiah (1:48.35). The women’s 2014 800 freestyle relay champions, Widener (7:53.53), are seeded second this year behind Messiah. For the men, the 2014 200 medley relay champions from Albright are seeded second to Messiah by just under a second. In the men’s 800 freestyle relay, Widener holds the top seed with the 2014 gold medalists from Albright in second.

Day Two
The second day consists of the 400 medley relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, and 50 freestyle. Seeded first in the women’s 400 medley relay is Widener, with Misericordia, the 2014 champions in the event, in second. In the 500 freestyle, Widener’s Anna Pelligra holds the first spot, with Amanda Osterlind from Albright in second. Osterlind is the 2013 and 2014 500 freestyle MAC champion. In the 200 individual medley, freshman Katie Wingert from Messiah has the top seed. Messiah’s Tara Freeman is seated first in the 50 freestyle. Freeman is the defending champion of the event.

For the men, Widener holds the number one seed in the 400 medley relay. Albright’s Ricky Sutton defends his 2012, 2013, and 2014 title in the 500 freestyle, holding the top seed in the event for his fourth year in a row. In the 200 individual medley, Thomas Scott of Misericordia is the number one seed and also the defending champion of the event. The 50 freestyle top seed goes to Widener’s Ian Gaynor.

Day Three

The third day of competition will include the 200 freestyle relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke. In the women’s 200 freestyle relay, Messiah is the first seed and also the defending champion of the event. Dani Blass of Misericordia holds the top spot in the 400 individual medley, which puts the 2014 champion of the event, Lauren Fogarty, in second. Blass is also the lead seed of the 100 breaststroke in which she holds the title from 2013. The 100 butterfly’s top spot is held by Messiah’s Tara Freeman. Katie Wingert of Messiah leads the competition in the 200 freestyle. The 100 backstroke’s number one seed is Whitney Boeckel of Arcadia.

For the men, Widener holds the fastest seed time for the 200 freestyle relay, almost eight seconds ahead of Albright, last years gold medalist of the event. The defending champion of the 400 individual medley, Arcadias’ Eric Lam, holds the top seed for preliminaries. Dan Woods looks to come away with his second gold in the 100 butterfly as he is seated first in the event. Widener’s Ian Gaynor has the chance to end the third day with his second gold in the 200 freestyle, as he hold the top time and is also the defending champion in the event. Thomas Scott of Misericordia holds the top spot going into prelims in the 100 breaststroke. Scott was the 2014 champion of the event as well. Hood’s Chris Gardner leads the competition in the 100 backstroke.

Day Four

The final day of events include the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, and 400 freestyle relay. The 1650 freestyle is lead by Albright’s Amanda Osterlind, who is the defending champion from 2012. In the 200 backstroke, Arcadia’s Whitney Boeckel is the fastest seed by over three seconds. The 100 freestyle’s top seed is Messiah’s Tara Freeman, who pushes the defending champion, Codi Herr of Albright, to the second spot. The 200 breaststroke is led by Misericordia’s Erin Neugebauer, two seconds ahead of the 2014 defending champion, Dani Blass. Macawley Brown of Kings leads the 200 butterfly. Misericordia is the top seed for the 400 freestyle relay, ahead of defending champion, Messiah, by less than two seconds.

For the men, Cameron Rogers of Hood is seated first ahead of the three-time defending champion in the 1650, Albright’s Ricky Sutton. In the 200 backstroke Misericordia’s Joe Grzech leads in the rankings. Widener’s Ian Gaynor could possibly swim away with his second individual win in the 100 freestyle, as he’s seated first by over two seconds. Thomas Scott from Misericordia is seated first in the 200 breaststroke and is also the 2014 defending champion in the event. The 200 butterfly’s top seed is Arcadia’s Timothy Graham. Widener leads the heat sheets in the 400 freestyle relay, as their first to second place by over ten seconds.

The picture associated with article is Akron, who is in the Mid-American Conference, not the Middle Atlantic.
