This week’s Performance Of The Week, sponsored by LumaLanes, goes to Vlad Morozov for his 100 freestyle at the 2018 Russian National Championships which currently sits as the fastest time in the world.

Swimming on the third day of the meet and fresh off a new national record in the 50 backstroke, Morozov dominated the field in the 100 from start to finish. He was first at the 50 and the only swimmer in the field under 23 seconds on the way out, splitting 22.59 on the way out and coming home in 25.19 to hit the wall in 47.75. You can take a look at his swim below:

That time was faster than any swimmer from the 2018 Commonwealth Games just a few weeks ago, and is faster than anyone has been at any meet so far this season. Morozov’s best time stands at a 47.62 from all the way back in 2013 at the World University Games in Kazan, and this is the first time he has been this close to that mark in several years.

Morozov will have another chance to get down to that mark on a bigger stage at European Championships later this summer where is sure to be a medal favorite in this event.

Congratulations Vlad Morozov on earning Swimming World’s Performance of the Week!

Special Thanks to LumaLanes for sponsoring Swimming World’s Performance of the Week.
