Olympic Gold medalist and Indiana sophomore Lilly King hit the water this week for the Big Ten Conference Championships, and the 20 year old did not disappoint. King won three individual events over the weekend, setting new Big Ten, American and NCAA records in the process.

Swimming in her pet event, the 100 breast, King re-wrote the record book for the event. Going out in 26.35 at the halfway point, King came home in 29.95 to hit the wall in a final time of 56.30. That chopped about half a second off of her existing Big Ten, American, and NCAA records of 56.85 while also breaking the meet (57.35) and pool (57.46) records that she held.

That makes King the fastest female short course yards breaststroker in history once again by almost a full second. The fastest any woman other than King has been in the 100 breast is 57.23, which came from Breeja Larson in 2014. Fans will now have to wait until March to see how much lower King can take her record, as she is now knocking on the door of becoming the first female breaststroke under 56 seconds.

King also recorded the fastest 50 breast split in history (25.55) to open the meet, and closed the competition with the second-fastest 200 breast in history (2:04.03) For her performance, King was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Meet.

Congratulations Lilly King on earning Swimming World’s Performance of the Week!
