This week’s Performance Of The Week, sponsored by LumaLanes, goes to Andriy Govorov for his stunning world record performance in the men’s 50 butterfly at the 2018 Sette Colli Trophy in Rome, Italy this week.

Swimming on the last day of competition, Govorov absolutely smashed Rafael Munoz’s world record in the 50 fly with a stellar swim of 22.27. That flew by Munoz’s old record of 22.43 from 2009 and took away one of the oldest supersuit world records still on the books.

Govorov had been within a tenth of the world record a few weeks ago during the Mare Nostrum Tour, clocking a 22.53 in Monaco which surely gave him confidence heading into his swim in Rome. You can see a video of Govorov’s swim below:

Govorov’s world record gives him the first long course world record for men in 2018 and makes him the first Ukrainian swimmer to hold a world record since Yana Klochkova’s reign with the record in the women’s 400 IM from 2000-2007.

Congratulations Andriy Govorov on earning Swimming World’s Performance of the Week!

Special Thanks to LumaLanes for sponsoring Swimming World’s Performance of the Week.
