Lone Peak Men, American Fork Women Win Utah 6A High School Titles

At the 2018 Utah High School swimming and diving 6A state championships, the Lone Peak men were dominant, winning with 428.5 points. Pleasant Grove finished second with 279 points. The women from Lone Peak were second with 297 points while American Fork totaled 338.5 points for the team title.

Girls

Kearns Cougar’s Holly BiesingerLily PlaudisKimerly Biesinger, and Deja Martz won the 200 medley relay in 1:51.60, nearly two seconds faster than second. Plaudis ran away with the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.68.

Breaking two minutes in the 200 free and earning gold was Keely Christenot of Kearns in 1:58.27. Her teammate Plaudis then dominated the 200 IM in 2:06.66. American Fork’s Allie Hill edged Christenot 5:20.16 to 5:20.70 for the 500 freestyle title.

Layton’s Abby Frazier touched in 25.12 to win the 50 freestyle.

Lone Peak’s Summer Shreeve was the sole swimmer under a minute in the 100 fly, winning the event in 59.30. Her teammate Taylor McAleavy won the 100 free with a 55.36. Their teammate Kenzie Chester won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.64.

Lizzie Smith, Camarie CardonMegan Mickelson, and McAleavy combined to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.64, just faster than Syracuse High School in 1:44.00.

In the 400 freestyle relay Lone Peak’s Chester, Mickelson, McAleavy, and Shreeve went a 3:42.62 for gold.

Boys

The Lone Peak High School team was well ahead in the 200 medley relay. Josh RiesJordan and Braden Tiffany, and Jake Mickelson touched in 1:35.05. Jordan Tiffany, Johnny CondieBoyd Abernethy, and Bryant Karratti won the 200 freestyle relay with their 1:27.93.

The Tiffany duo went one-two in the 200 IM as Jordan touched in 1:56.25 and Braden finished in 2:00.85. Their teammate Ries was second in the 50 free (21.65) behind Cyprus’ Brian Christofferson (21.34). Jordan Tiffany won the 100 fly in 50.74. Christofferson then dominated the 100 free in 46.67.

Devin Bunnell, a junior from Pleasant Grove won the 200 free by five seconds with a 1:40.20. He also topped the 500 free by ten seconds, winning with a 4:39.75.

After leading off the medley relay Ries won the 100 back in 51.22 while Braden Tiffany was second (52.40).

Denton Anderson, a senior at WL won the 100 breaststroke in 57.34. He was followed by two more seniors: American Fork’s Cy Dunkley (58.78) and Kearns’ Sage Helton (59.90).

Lone Peak made it a relay sweep as Ries, Mickelson, Braden Tiffany, and Karratti touched in 3:11.07 in the 400 freestyle relay.
