Lithuanian Long Course Championships: Meet Comes to Close

ALYTUS, Lithuania, March 14. THE last day of action at the Lithuanian Long Course Championships came to a close in Alytus.

Aksana Dzimidava won the women's 100 free in 59.01, just touching out Vaiva Gimbutyte's 59.04. Aliona Adamovich placed third in 59.37. Vytautas Janusaitis topped the men's 100 free in 51.92, while Paulius Viktoravieius (52.84) and Justinas Bilis (52.89) finished second and third.

Iulia Olari cruised in the women's 200 back with a 2:20.17, while Viktoryia Vasilenka (2:25.69) and Inga Dukyte (2:25.79) placed second and third. Matas Andriekus held off Konstantins Blohins, 2:06.36 to 2:06.58, in the men's 200 back. Ihar Boki took third in 2:09.64.

Evghenia Tanasienco (1:11.88), Urte Kazakevieiute (1:12.32) and Erika Bespalko (1:15.24) led the women's 100 breast. Giedrius Titenis won the men's 100 breast in 1:03.45, while Igor Kozlovskij (1:06.27) and Jevgenij Gamper (1:06.70) finished second and third.

Giedre Grigonyte won the women's 50 fly in 29.17, while Aiste Dobrovolskaite took second in 29.66. Gimbutyte took her second podium with a 29.84 for third. Pavels Vilcans touched out Pavels Kondrahins, 24.90 to 24.95, in the men's 50 fly as both closed to within half-a-second of Rolandas Gimbutis' national record of 26.48 from 2006. Yahor Dodaleu took third in 25.23.

Alona Ribakova snared the women's 800 free title in 9:44.14, while Guoda Jonelyte (9:50.58) and Aiste Kubiliute (9:51.18) completed the top three. Uladzimir Zhyharau earned the men's 1500 free crown in 15:51.28. Andrei Shalamaeu (16:35.97) and Simas Piaukas (17:03.23) finished second and third.
