Lisa Bratton, Gianluca Urlando Win 3 at 2019 Speedo Sectional in College Station

Several big names in swimming had strong performances at the 2019 Speedo Sectional in College Station during the weekend.

Gianluca Urlando and Lisa Bratton each won three events in the meet.

Urlando won the 200 fly in (1:56.76), beating the field by six seconds. Urlando won the 100 fly in 52.51, holding off Shaine Casas (52.77) and won the 200 IM in 2:00.34.

Aggie Swim Club’s Bratton won the 200 back in 2:10.94 to finish ahead of Madisyn Cox (2:12.86). Bratton also won the 100 back in 1:00.25, two seconds ahead of the field, and claimed victory in the 200 IM (2:15.10).

Cox won the 400 free in 4:13.71 to hold off Kaitlynn Sims (4:14.73). On Thursday, Sims won the 1500 free in 16:44.54 to finish ahead of Sarah Gibson (16:56.37).

Gibson won the 200 free in 2:00.78 ahead of Cox (2:01.54). Gibson also won the 100 fly in 58.85, holding off Lillie Nordmann (1:00.32).

Aggies Beryl Gastaldello (55.64) and Gibson (56.17) went 1-2 in the 100 free. Jorie Caneta won the 100 breast (1:09.93).

In the closest event of the meet, Nordmann won the 200 fly in 2:12.44, edging Jing Quah (2:12.45) in a hundredths of a second.

In the men’s 200 back, Juan Jose Rocha De Murga won in 2:03.58. He also won the 100 back (57.41). William Wagner of Rice won the 100 free (50.64) ahead of Texas A&M’s Steven Richardson (50.88).

In the men’s 800 free, Connor Daniels earned the victory in 8:15.82, ahead of Jacob Ores (8:16.04).

In the men’s 400 free, Coby Carrozza won in 3:55.10 to beat the field by four seconds. Corona also won the 200 free (1:50.46) ahead of Daniels (1:52.41).

Anna Belousova won the 200 breast in 2:31.26, besting the field by seven seconds. Mauro Castillo Luna won the men’s event in 2:14.13. He also won the 100 breast in 1:02.11.

Lindsay Looney won the 400 IM in 4:49.68 to finish ahead of Sims (4:51.89). Jed Michael Jones won the men’s even tin 4:29.21 ahead of Munzer Kabbara (4:30.36).

Kalyan Bratanov won the 50 free in 22.71 ahead of Jack Armstrong (23.30). Amelia Liu won the women’s 50 free in 25.78.

In the team standings, Katy Aquatics won with 506 combined points to edge Lakeside Aquatic Club, which finished with 500.

DART Swimming won the men’s meet with 302 ahead of Katy (288). Club Wolverine won the women’s meet with 260, just one point ahead of Lakeside Aquatic Club (259) and four points ahead of Aggie Swim Club (256).
