Linda Helleland Endorsed by WSCA For WADA President

The board of the World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA) voted unanimously to support the candidacy of Minister Linda Helleland for the Presidency of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

FairSport’s endorsement of Minister Helleland prompted the WSCA Board of Directors to consider its own endorsement.

Minister Helleland is the only candidate even discussing the real issues of WADA. She is the only one to have expressed a vision for the future and a pathway for achieving that vision.

The status quo is no longer acceptable. WADA has become part of the problem in world sport. It is no longer part of the solution. Candidates seeking to maintain the status quo are no longer credible with the coaches or athletes of the world.

With the IOC controlling 50 percent of the votes for the next WADA President, Minister Helleland faces an essentially “rigged” election. The WSCA is asking the coaches and athletes of the world to contact the Public Authorities Representatives on the WADA Foundation Board to ask them to support transformative change in the WADA.

The Board of the WSCA thanks Minister Helleland for taking her stand on these issues and being willing to run an almost unwinnable race. The only way Minister Helleland can win is for every coach and athlete to contact their representatives on both the “Olympic Movement” and “Public Authorities” sides of the WADA Board.
