Indiana junior Lilly King remained undefeated with a win in the 100 breast on Friday night at the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio. King won her third straight NCAA title in the event and also broke the American and NCAA record at 56.25.

King was the only swimmer under 30 seconds on the second 50 as she won the race by over a second and a half over Michigan sophomore Miranda Tucker (57.98). Minnesota’s Lindsey Kozelsky was third at 58.13 to complete the Big Ten 1-2-3 sweep.

Eastern Michigan’s Delaney Duncan (58.36), Texas A&M’s Anna Belousova (58.97), Arizona State’s Silja Kansakoski (58.98), Hawaii’s Franziska Weidner (59.12) and Purdue’s Jinq En Phee (59.99) also swam in the championship final.

This is King’s third straight NCAA title in the event as she joins Kristy Kowal (1998-2000) of Georgia, Tara Kirk (2001-2004) of Stanford and Breeja Larson of Texas A&M (2012-2014) as three time winners in the event. Only Kirk has completed the sweep as King has the chance to do it next year.
