Moorestown, New Jersey’s Andrea Fong has verbally committed to Villanova University. Fong is a distance swimmer for the Jersey Wahoos. College swimming is something Fong will be familiar with as her brother Zach is a sophomore at the University of Virginia this year. The Fong family also has a history with Villanova. Her father has two degrees from the University.

Her best times are:

  • 500 Free 5:01.06
  • 1000 Free 10:10.93
  • 1650 Free 17:06.80
  • 200 IM 2:07.74
  • 400 IM 4:33.50

She told Swimming World,

“I’m so excited to announce my commitment to Villanova University. The coaches and team immediately made me feel at home from the moment I stepped onto campus. It has the perfect balance of swimming and academics and I can’t wait for the next four years! Go wildcats!”

Fong also swims for Moorestown High School where she is a team captain this year. Last year she finished seventh for her school at the New Jersey Public School state championships in the 200 IM.

Villanova enters this season as the defending Big East Conference champions. Fong will be a scoring contributor to that success. She would have finished sixth in the mile last year. Wildcats took three of the top four spots in that event. In the 500 freestyle and 400 IM she would have been a B finalist last year.
