At the Central Mega Zone meet in Indianapolis, 10 and under National Age Group records fell in back to back events.

Leah Hayes was up first, setting her fifth National Age Group record of the summer. The 10 year old from USA Athletic Club Tidal Waves clocked a 2:30.97 in the 200 IM, faster than Elizabeth Beisel‘s 2:31.26, swum in 2003. That time had stood as the oldest 10 and under National Age Group record.

Hayes’ splits:

32.97, 1:13.37 (40.40), 1:57.21 (43.84), 2:30.97 (33.76)

Hayes’ other records included the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles and the 50 breaststroke.

In the very next event, Adele Zyniewicz went head to head with Hayes and claimed the 50 freestyle National Age Group record. Earlier this summer, Zyniewicz took the record from Miriam Sheehan in 28.37. Hayes then lowered that to a 28.33. Zyniewicz’s winning time today was a 28.15. Hayes took second in 28.43.
