ATLANTA — LEAD Sports Summit is thrilled to open registration for our third annual event. This year’s Summit will take place over Labor Day Weekend (August 30-September 2, 2019) in Atlanta. LEAD attendees will have the opportunity to listen to keynotes from Olympians and expert speakers, participate in new, in-depth breakout sessions alongside their mentors and peers, and engage in leadership exercises and team-building activities that will help shape them as leaders in and out of the pool.

Two-time Paralympian McKenzie Coan and 2016 Olympic gold medalist Maya DiRado have been announced as speakers for the event. The full roster of speakers, expert mentors, and Team Leaders will be revealed in the coming months.

“It’s been a dream come true to see LEAD grow over the past two years,” said founder Kara Lynn Joyce, a 3-time Olympian and 4-time Olympic medalist. “This year, we want to double down on our mission to create an environment where girls can gain confidence and leadership skills and develop strong connections with other future leaders and strong female mentors.”

LEAD will also host the first annual Parent Track, which will take place on Sunday, September 1 during the Summit. This new program will provide a day of keynotes and breakout sessions designed especially for swim parents, including topics such as confidence, nutrition, sports psychology, and more. These sessions will be led by Olympian speakers and expert mentors with the help of Team Leaders.

The LEAD Sports Summit is the first 4-day all-inclusive leadership and empowerment summit for teenage female swimmers. Throughout the weekend, LEAD Mentors and Speakers work with participants during group talks, team-building activities, workshops, and small-group, age-specific breakout sessions. Three-time Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce founded LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, and Athletic Development) as an opportunity for girls to learn leadership skills from strong, accomplished female mentors. Registration for LEAD opens to all female swimmers, ages 13-18 on November 17. Athletes can register for the event and sign up for the LEAD newsletter through the website: https://leadsportssummit.com/.
