Kylee Alons Splits 21.90 at Federal Way Speedo Sectionals

Future NC State swimmer Kylee Alons of Fort Collins’ 21.90 anchor split on the 4×50 medley relay highlighted day two of the 2018 Speedo Sectionals Championship Series in Federal Way, Wash.

After two full days of competition so far, King leads the men’s team scores with 557 points followed by Tualatin Hills (407) and Hillsboro (372). Fort Collins leads the women’s meet with 779 points ahead of King (549) and Bellevue (327).

Missoula’s Katharine Berkoff won her third event of the meet, this time winning a close women’s 200 free battle in 1:46.81. Fort Collins’ Kylee Alons was right behind her in 1:46.83 for second and her teammate Zoe Bartel was third in 1:46.91.

Iolani’s ‘aukai Lileikils cruised to first in the men’s 200 free, winning by nearly two seconds in 1:34.68. Tualatin Hills’ Ethan Luc took second in 1:36.63 and Fort Collins’ William Kovac finished third in 1:36.98.

Fort Collins’ Coleen Gillilan, who has given her verbal commitment to Notre Dame beginning in 2019, won her second event of the meet, claiming first in the women’s 400 IM in 4:14.04. Second place went to Issaquah’s Sarah Dimeco (4:15.83) and third went to Fort Collins’ Caraline Baker (4:18.83).

Hillsboro’s Ethan Heasley claimed his third individual gold medal of the meet, winning the men’s 400 IM in 3:45.56. King’s Daniel Roy earned silver in 3:49.98 and Billings’ Ethan Harder grabbed bronze in 3:51.09.

Fort Collins’ Bayley Stewart (25.53), Bartel (26.98), Gillilan (23.66) and Alons (21.90) dominated the women’s 4×50 medley relay in 1:38.07, winning the event by over four seconds. Lake Oswego finished second in 1:42.16 and King took third in 1:42.33.

Bellevue’s Kyle Millis (22.56), James Deiparine (24.62), Nathan Shao (22.57) and Andrew Boden (20.64) won the men’s 4×50 medley relay in 1:30.39. Iolani was a close second in 1:30.51 and King was third in 1:30.70.

Prelims for the third day of competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. PDT.
