Kyle Chalmers Tops 50 Free Semis at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Kyle Chalmers led the way into finals of the men’s 50-meter free at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Chalmers won the second semifinal heat with a time of 22.44 to earn the top seed heading into finals tomorrow.

USA’s Michael Andrew checked in with the second seed with a time of 22.50 to win semifinal two.

Hungary’s Oszkar Peter Lavotha wound up with the third seed in a time of 22.55, while Brazil’s Felipe Izzo turned in a fourth-seeded 22.67.

Turkey’s Huseyin Emre Sakci (22.71), Russia’s Vladislav Kozlov (22.72), Italy’s Giovanni Izzo (22.74) and Brazil’s Pedro Spajari (22.76) closed out the finalist field.

The semis featured three of the top five 18-and-under swimmers this year with Chalmers, Andrew and Izzo all making finals.
