Kirill Prigoda to Carry Russian Flag at World University Games Opening Ceremony
Honored Master of Sports of Russia, a multiple champion of Europe and the world Kirill Prigoda received the right to become the standard-bearer of the Russian team at the opening of the 2019 Universiade, the Russian Federation announced.
The opening ceremony of the Universiade 2019 will be held in Naples on July 3. Competitions swimmers in the 50-meter pool, which is attended by 660 athletes from 72 countries around the world, will start on July 4 and will last until July 10.
At student games will be played 222 sets of awards in 18 sports. The Russian national team at the Universiade-2019 consisted of 275 athletes, of which 31 are swimmer, led by Kirill Prigoda.
The Russian Swimming Federation named its team for the 2019 World University Games in Naples, Italy this summer. They will send 18 men and 13 women to the Games that will start July 3-14. The biggest names in attendance for Russia are probably 2017 World Championship bronze medalist Kirill Prigoda and 2016 Olympian Grigory Tarasevich, who swam collegiately at the University of Louisville.
2017 World Juniors silver medalist (100 fly) Egor Kuimov will also be in attendance at the Games along with World Juniors bronze medalist (200 free) Irina Krivonogova and 2018 Youth Olympic Games gold medalists Daniel Markov (50 free, 50 fly) and Polina Egorova (100 fly).
2018 European Juniors gold medalist (400 IM) Maxim Stupin is also on the team for the Russian team.
Joining Kirill Prigoda, the Russian Swimming Federation named its team for the World Championships.
