Florida’s Kieran Smith and Texas A&M’s Shaine Casas split the men’s swimmer of the week honors in the SEC Weekly Honors, released Tuesday.

Smith’s teammate Cecilia Porter was named freshman of the week. Kentucky’s Riley Gaines earned women’s swimmer of the week, while Aimee Wilson of Texas A&M and LSU’s Juan Celaya-Hernandez were the divers of the week. Jake Magahey of Georgia is the men’s freshman of the week.

Smith won three events in a dual meet with Auburn, all in NCAA B-cut times. Smith won the 200 individual medley in 1:43.76, the 11th-fastest time in the nation this season. He also won the 100 freestyle (42.75 seconds) and 100 backstroke (47.22).

Casas continued his stellar season with a school record in the 100 butterfly at 44.98 seconds, the nation’s third-fastest time in 2020-21. Casas also won the 100 back (47.11) and was part of two winning relays. The swims account for his sixth school record of the season and his fifth SEC Weekly Honors nod of the campaign.

Gaines won three individual events as Kentucky topped Louisville in a Bluegrass battle. She claimed wins in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and the 200 medley relay, swimming the anchor leg. Her time in the 200 free, 1:44.06, is the fifth-fastest in the nation this season.

Porter won the 200 breaststroke against Auburn with a top-20 national time of 1:00.19, good for an NCAA B cut. She added a B cut in the 200 breast and helped the Gators win the 200 medley relay against Auburn. Porter also swam a pair of strong races in an earlier win against North Florida.

Magahey won two individual events and led a relay win as Georgia topped Tennessee. He won the 200 free (1:35.65) and 500 free (4:20.58), both NCAA B cuts, and added the decisive leg in the 400 free relay to clinch Georgia’s first undefeated men’s dual-meet season since 1997-98.

On the board, Celaya-Hernandez swept both events in a dual meet with Texas A&M. The Mexican international topped 400 points in winning at both one-meter and three-meter.

Wilson won three times across dual meets with LSU and SMU for the Aggies. The Canadian claimed the three-meter against LSU and swept both events against SMU.
