Despite turning sixth at the 50-meter mark, veteran-flyer Kelsi Dahlia was able to power through the final 50 of the women’s 100 fly to claim her fourth National title. Dahlia spoke to the media about swimming with what she described as “heavy legs” both at Worlds and the National Championships.
When discussing her performance at Worlds, Dahlia expressed a little bit of disappointment and mentioned that she was trying to maintain her calm presence while swimming on the women’s 400 medley relay. At that point in the meet, her three teammates had each won an individual gold, but she used their successes to motivate her.
The final question asked of Dahlia was how she was feeling about veteran Dana Vollmer’s final swim of her career. Dahlia, who represented the United States in the 100 fly with Vollmer at the 2016 Rio Olympics, had a abundance of positive things to say about the ground-breaking “Momma on a Mission” and the impact she has had on our sport.
