Kayla Gagnon has verbally committed to be a West Virginia University Mountaineer next fall. Gagnon swims for the Jersey Wahoos where she is a butterflier and strong IMer.

Her best times are:

  • 100 Fly 56.88
  • 200 Fly 2:02.44
  • 200 IM 2:08.54
  • 400 IM 4:31.39

At the 2016 New Jersey High School State Championships, Gagnon represented Eastern Regional High School. She was a member of the team’s 200 medley relay which finished in the C final. Gagnon split a 26.38 50 yard butterfly. She then finished tenth in the 200 IM (2:09.06) and 15th in the 100 butterfly (58.12).

Last year West Virginia finished fourth in the Big 12 conference. Gagnon would have been a 200 butterfly A finalist at the conference meet last year. She also would have been the team’s top finisher as Natalie Johnsen led the way for the Mountaineers with a 2:03.35. Kelsey Frantz and Mackenzie Braden also scored in the 200 fly last year. In the 100 fly, Gagnon would have been a C finalist, just two tenths shy of also scoring in that event.
