This week had plenty of fast long-course swimming across the world, but there was one swim that stood head and shoulders above the rest. Setting an all-time January best for the women’s 200 Individual Medley in 2:08.20, Katinka Hosszu set herself apart as she continued to establish her dominance in the short IM.

Hosszu’s sights are bound to be set on gold in Rio at the 2016 Olympic Games after a stellar 2015 that saw her break the super-suited world record from 2009 in the event at the World Championships. Hosszu’s time this weekend would have put her 2nd in the world last year, behind only her own world record from Kazan. This swim gives Hosszu a great start to 2016 as she heads into her continued preparations for the Rio Games. Her 2:08 also sits within the top fifteen all time in the event, and gives her seven of the top fifteen 200 IM’s of all time.

Congratulations Katinka Hosszu on the Swimming World Performance of the Week!
