USC freshman Kaitlyn Dobler ripped a 57.71 in the 100 breaststroke on Friday night at USC’s dual meet with UCLA in Los Angeles. The time broke Rebecca Soni’s school record that she set in the 2009 Pac-12s with a 58.10 that stood as the NCAA record for a year. Dobler moved all the way up to sixth all-time in the event, and first in Division I this season, unseating Texas freshman Anna Elendt (58.06), improving on her 58.31 best time from earlier this semester.

Results

Dobler broke the national high school record last season in the 100 breaststroke with a 58.35 at the Oregon State championships. She also won the silver medal in the 100 breaststroke at the 2019 FINA World Juniors with a 1:06.97 in long course meters as her recent short course success is putting her in the running for, not only the NCAA title this year, but the Olympic Trials as well.
