World Juniors gold medalist and USC commit Justina Kozan is highlighting this weekend’s CIF-Southern Section Division I Championships at Santa Margarita Catholic High School.

Kozan will be swimming the 200 free and the 100 freestyle as the USC commit, representing Santa Margarita, will have a chance to run down the meet record of 1:43.01 set in 2015 by Worlds medalist Katie McLaughlin. Kozan will also take a shot at the national private school record of 1:41.55 set in 2015 by Katie Ledecky. Kozan has an outside shot of making next month’s Olympic team as she is currently ranked 10th nationally in the 200 free with the top four making the 4×200 free relay plus two additional alternates.

Justina Kozan’s Mission Viejo teammate Katie Crom out of Tesoro will also be at the meet as the fourth seed in the 200 IM and seventh seed in the 100 butterfly. Crom is also a rising star out of southern California as she is ranked 12th nationally in the 200 butterfly.

National age group record holder Rex Maurer out of Rose Bowl Aquatics and Loyola will also be in attendance as he is the top seed in the 200 freestyle and second seed in the 500 behind Matthew Chai.

The meet will be held this Thursday May 27.
