Sprinter Marta Cielsa, a past Junior National champion in the 50 free, announced on Instagram Tuesday that she is committing to swim for coach Dave Salo and the University of Southern California Trojans.

Ciesla was the winner of the 50-meter free at Junior Nationals in August 2015 and then she won the 50-yard free at the Eastern Junior Nationals in December. She picked up a silver medal in the 50 free at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships this summer and also has experience competing with the National Junior Team in World Cup meets in Asia last fall.

Ciesla’s short course best times of 22.52 in the 50 free and 48.97 in the 100 free would have put her in consolation finals at the Pac-12 championships last season and just behind the NCAA cut lines in the two events. But she figures to be a massive impact contributor right away on the Trojans’ 200 and 400 free relays.

Long course, her best time in the 50 free is 25.07, and she also has an Olympic Trials cut in the 100 free with a 56.20. In Omaha, she finished 19th in the 50 free and 86th in the 100 free.
