Julia Smit Turns Professional, Signs With Agent

STANFORD, California, May 5. JULIA Smit, a 26-time Stanford All-American and two-time Olympic medalist, signed as professional swimmer with Arluck Promotions.

Smit has seen success at every level in her swimming career, from being named National High School Swimmer of the Year to winning multiple NCAA national championships and Olympic medals. This year, she received the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top collegiate swimmer. At only 22 years old, Smit is one to watch over the next several years as a leader on the American swimming program.

Smit will walk in Stanford's graduation ceremonies this month and will graduate with a degree in Anthropology later this year. She will join many other accomplished swimmers with Arluck Promotions, including fellow former Cardinal stars Misty Hyman, Jenny Thompson and Ben Wildman-Tobriner, who have combined for 10 Olympic Gold Medals. Smit's first event on the Swim Champions Fitter & Faster Tour will be May 16 in Palo Alto, Calif. as she begins her post-collegiate career.
