TAMPA – Austin Sellers, a senior at Jesuit High School and breaststroke specialist for the Academy Aquatic Club in Tampa, has verbally committed to swim for the University of North Carolina in the fall. He is ranked fourth in the state of Florida and 59th overall in Collegeswimming.com‘s recruit rankings for the class of 2015.

Sellers’ best times include a 54.90 in the 100-yard breast, a 2:00.07 in the 200-yard breast and a 1:52.23 in the 200-yard IM. He recently won the 100 breast at the 2014 Florida High School Class 2A Swimming and Diving Championships, in addition to finishing second in the 200 IM, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.

Sellers also competed at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships in December and finished 11th in the 200 breast and 13th in the 100 breast. His best times in the 100 and 200 breast would have placed in the C final at last year’s ACC Championships.

“The combination of the team, the coaching staff and the academic opportunity made this an outstanding option for me,” Sellers said. “I can’t wait to be a Tar Heel!”
