Jesuit Boys Claim Florida 2A State Championship

While Gulliver Prep won the girls 2A Championships meet, the Jesuit boys took home their Florida 2A state title with 271 points. In second was Gulliver Prep with 244 while Ponte Vedra finished third with 147 points.
Land O’Lakes won the first relay. Patryk Pilkowski, Jabari Ramsey, Zachary Davis, and Zuri Ramsey touched in 1:35.97. Jesuit’s Nick Shaffer, Chris Jennings, Tyler Carreja, and Alex Caceres (1:36.33) were second. Ponte Vedra’s Nicholas Cox, Jesse Hagy, Igor Kazhuro, and Max Milicevic (1:36.68) finished third.
Ethan Long of Lakewood (1:38.92) and Merritt Island’s Lucas Kravchenko (1:39.08) were both under 1:40. Jesuit’s Brendan Driscoll (1:41.91) finished third.
Driscoll moved to the top of the podium in the 500 free when he finished in 4:29.50. American Heritage senior Nicholas Pacitti picked up silver with his 4:34.05 while Rene Peralta of Gulliver Prep (4:35.76) was third.
Gulliver Prep’s Miguel Cancel was well ahead of the field in 1:48.09. Paxon’s Tyler Watson (1:50.02) and Mosley’s Spencer Sehlhorst (1:51.87) completed the podium.
In the 50 freestyle Irvin Hoost of St. Brendan was first to the wall in 20.86. Mourning’s Andrew Garcia (21.22) and Jesuit’s Chris Jennings (21.27) finished second and third. The 100 freestyle featured a different trio. Cancel earned his second victory of the day in 44.50. Lakewood senior Ethan Long (45.84) edged Jesuit senior Sam Sands (45.98) for runner up honors.
Tyler Watson (48.73) and Gulliver Prep’s Traher Gribble (49.34) cleared 50 in the 100 fly. Jeffrey Sober of Rocky Bayou was third (50.38).
Gulliver Prep edged Jesuit for the 200 freestyle relay title. Gribble, Cancel, Rene Peralta, and Philip Meira touched in 1:26.16 while Jennings, Caceres, Tyler Petitt, and Sands posted a 1:26.58.
Lucas Kravchenko of Merritt Island broke through the 50 second barrier in prelims and finals of the 100 back. Tonight he won in 49.43. Gribble (50.68) and Pilwoski (51.75) followed.
It was a tight battle between seniors in the 100 breaststroke. Ramsey ultimately prevailed in 56.11. Arnold’s Chase Bolding was second with a 56.66. Jesuit’s Jennings (58.47) also broke a minute.
