12-year-old Jarrett Payne took down the National Age Group record in the 50 butterfly at the 2019 Great Lakes Zone YMCA Championships. Representing the Springfield Family YMCA, Payne took the record down in a time trial on Sunday, posting a 23.49 to break the 11-12 NAG record.

Payne had been just off the record last weekend in the 50 fly, posting times of 23.91 and 23.85, respectively.

His time from this weekend broke the previous record from 2014 that was held by Vinny Marciano.

Full results of the meet can be found on the Meet Mobile app.

I agree. London is fantastic. I was officiating and commented on how great his mechanics were. He had the best stroke, starts and turns. Congrats.

Elizabeth Rising London is pretty amazing as well. I was officiating and commented on how great his starts, strokes and turns were. I too was a smaller swimmer so the mechanics were everything.

Thank you! He was excited to be back at OSU for Zones. His first Zone Meet was at OSU at age 7 in 1 relay, so it was extra special to get his first NAG record at Zones in that pool!
