Bailey Butler has given James Madison University their second in state verbal commitment this week. Butler is from Henrico, VA and swims for Deep Run High School and NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, Inc. She is primarily a distance swimmer.

Butler’s best times are:

200/500/1000/1650 Freestyle: 1:54.01/ 4:56.29/ 10:10.07/ 16:57.49

400 IM: 4:32.57

Julianna Jones also gave her verbal commitment to the Dukes. Butler will have an immediate training partner in Jones, who is stronger in the 200. The duo are a great match in the 500 and Butler has the upper hand in the longer events.

Butler’s best times would have scored at the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Conference Championship where the Dukes finished runner up to William and Mary. In the 1650, she would have been the Dukes’ highest finisher in fifth. Butler would have finished in the middle of the B final in the 500 freestyle and been first alternate in the 400 IM.
