James Madison Begins 2022 Recruiting Haul With Verbal From Futures Qualifier Alexandra Volk
NEW COMMIT: James Madison University has officially begun their Class of 2026 recruiting after picking up a verbal commitment from Futures qualifier Alexandra Volk of Lutherville, Md.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at James Madison University. I want to thank my family, coaches, and friends who have helped me get to this point. GO DUKES!!”
A talented sprinter freestyler and butterflyer, Volk trains year-round with Eagle Swim Team under head coach Scott Ward. She earned nine best times at the ISCA International Senior Cup back in March where her highest finish was a 17th-place showing in the 200m free. Most recently, she had a great showing at Richmond Sectionals, finaling in four events and achieving four new personal bests.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.79
- 100 free – 52.10
- 200 free – 1:51.79
- 100 fly – 57.35
- 200 fly – 2:05.01
A rising senior at Notre Dame Preparatory School, Volk is a multi-time IAAM Championship finalist. During her sophomore season, she finished third in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free while her 4×50 free relay squad earned All-America honors.
Volk has major potential at James Madison both individually and on relays. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50/100/200 free as well as the 200 fly at the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Championships where the Dukes captured their fourth-straight team title.
