Jack Bauerle, Russell Mark Headline ASCA Eastern States Clinic’s 50th Anniversary
The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) will celebrate a major milestone this fall when the 50th Annual Eastern States Swim Clinic brings coaches together October 16–18 at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia–King of Prussia near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Leading the 2026 lineup are Jack Bauerle, a four-time U.S. Olympic coach, and Russell Mark, ASCA’s Performance & Education Advisor and a leading authority on stroke technique and performance analysis.
Bauerle brings decades of experience at the highest levels of swimming to the Eastern States stage. The longtime University of Georgia head coach has coached generations of swimmers and is one of the sport’s most accomplished coaches.
Mark has become a familiar resource to coaches through ASCA’s extensive stroke-technique and performance libraries and the Stroke School. His live sessions combine video, data and practical coaching applications that coaches can take directly back to their pool decks.
The clinic also features Jason Pullano, an accomplished Texas high school coach, bringing his experience and perspective from the high school level to the Eastern States audience.
Laura Mitchell, the highly regarded Head Coach at Alto Swim Club known for her ability to teach and develop age-group swimmers, will bring a different perspective to the program, focusing on the fundamentals and coaching skills that help young swimmers progress.
The combination of coaches working across different levels of the sport is intentional, giving attendees an opportunity to learn from leaders with very different coaching backgrounds and areas of expertise.
Celebrating 50 Years of Coaching Education
For five decades, the Eastern States Swim Clinic has provided coaches with an opportunity to learn from experienced leaders, exchange ideas and connect with colleagues from throughout the region.
The 50th anniversary comes at an important time for ASCA, which has expanded its regional clinic program while investing in new education, technology and professional-development opportunities. ASCA assumed full management of the Eastern States, Central States and Pacific Coaches clinics beginning in 2025.
The 2026 Eastern States program continues the clinic’s tradition of combining technical instruction, practical coaching education and peer-to-peer interaction.
Extra Learning Opportunities
In addition to the main clinic sessions, coaches can take advantage of two extra paid educational schools: Stroke School with Russell Mark (on Friday, Oct. 16), offering an in-depth look at stroke technique and analysis, and Planning, Writing and Managing Age Group & Novice Workouts with Laura Mitchell (on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 18), focused on developing effective workouts for young swimmers.
The anniversary also comes just prior to the launch of “The New Era of ASCA,” which includes a redesigned certification system, new learning technology and expanded member resources.
