Isaac Stump Among Leaders on Final Night of Sectionals at Mount Hood

On the final night of the 2017 Speedo Sectionals meet at the Mount Hood Aquatic Center in Gresham, Oregon, a number of swimmers returned to the podium, ending their weekends with more successful swims.

University of Denver’s Bailey Andison won the 200 IM with a 2:18.89. Earlier in the weekend Andison was runner up in the 100 breaststroke. Swim Utah’s Jordan Anderson posted a runner up 2:19.15. Wrapping up the top three was Phoenix Swim Club’s Sydney Carlson in 2:21.01.

Michael Zarian of the Jeffco Hurricanes won the 200 IM for the men with his 2:04.83. Flying Fish’s Isaac Stump posted a 2:05.61 for silver. Placing third was the University of Denver’s William Goodwin in 2:07.28.

Stump was on a roll tonight. The 18 year old stopped the clock in 16:06.84 to win the men’s 1500, adding to his 800 freestyle gold from earlier in the weekend. Montrose Marlins’ Ryan King secured second in 16:09.40. Finishing third was Scottsdale’s Stefan Cooley (16:12.52).

The women’s 1500 freestyle went to 200 free champ Hayley Hill in 17:06.52. Her Scottsdale teammate Ashley Strouse touched second in 17:09.25. Both girls earned new Junior Nationals cuts with that swim. Abbey Erwin of the Boise YMCA placed third (17:14.28).

Jillian Visscher won the women’s 50 freestyle in 25.64. Mount Hood’s Jamie Stone was second in 25.92. The Dolphins Portland’s Alayna Connor was third with a 26.58.

The men’s splash and dash saw Portland Aquatic Club’s Sidney Farber touch the wall at 23.17 for gold. Tualatin Hills’ Evan Carlson was second in 23.36. Four tenths back was University of Denver’s Keegan Bundy with a 23.75.
