Industry News: Splash Sculpture Available Through Greater Toledo Aquatic Club

TOLEDO, Ohio, September 29. SPLASH, a sculpture specially created by artist George Carruth in honor of the 35th anniversary of the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club (GTAC), is now available via GTAC.

Carruth, the founder of the world renowned Carruth Studios, has been creating images out of limestone and clay since 1983 in nearby Waterville, Ohio. By casting his sculptures, Carruth has enabled thousands of people to enjoy his original, joyous carvings, and collectors wait anxiously for the 30 plus new pieces he creates each year. Carruth designs are sold in more than 2,500 shops throughout the U.S. and Canada, and Carruth was the subject of a PBS Documentary: George Carruth, An American Sculptor.

GTAC was created by former Toledo swimmer Pete Malone (now head coach of the Kansas City Blazers), and was formally incorporated in 1972. GTAC has trained many state, national, international champions throughout the years, under the direction of many outstanding coaches, and continues to maintain a strong reputation for excellent training and fast swimming in the region and nation. GTAC also is proud to have initiated several outreach programs, through which central city children and those with disabilities are taught how to swim and compete. Keith Kennedy has been the head coach of GTAC since 2000.

Splash can be freestanding or be hung on a wall. It is a delightful celebration of the young swimmer, and the perfect gift, award or decoration for anyone who loves to swim. Splash measures approximately 6" x 4", and is Carruth's first ever "swim team" themed piece.

Splash is only available through GTAC until the end of 2007. Cost is $18, plus $5 shipping. Shipping of larger amounts will be determined based upon order size and destination. Also see their ad in Swimming World Magazine's holiday gift guide in print and on the web.
