RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, April 17. ONE of the greatest swimmers in the history of Brazil, Thiago Pereira, is the latest athlete to join Speedo as a global ambassador.

The international gold medalist, who will compete exclusively in Speedo until 2016, has enjoyed success around the world and has represented his country at three consecutive summer Olympics to date.

Thiago triumphed at the 2012 Games taking silver in the 400 meter individual medley. He currently holds the crown as Brazil’s athlete with the most gold medals won in Pan American Games.

The Brazilian champion is now preparing to compete in key competitions including this year’s Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, the Pan American Games and the FINA World Championships in 2015, ahead of representing his country in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Speaking of his partnership with Speedo, Thiago said: “Speedo is truly iconic so I’m incredibly proud to wear the brand to compete for my country at the Olympic Games. The world’s eyes will be on Rio in 2016 and I’m looking forward to making Brazil proud.”

Sean Hastings, Vice President of Product and Marketing at Speedo International said: “Thiago has had a great start to the year having picked up two gold medals at the recent South American Games. He’s a real Brazilian hero and a fantastic swimming talent, so we are incredibly proud to be working with him.”
