Industry News: Olympian Andy Potts Signs with TYR Sport

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, November 21. TWO-time USAT Elite Triathlete of the Year Andy Potts has signed a multi-year contract agreement with TYR Sport Inc.

An Olympian in the sport of triathlon in 2004, Potts made a name for himself early on in the pool. A 6-time NCAA All-American in swimming at the University of Michigan and a former USA Swimming National Team Member helped establish Potts as one of the top multi-sport swimmers in the world.

Potts turned professional in the sport of triathlon in 2003 and was named the USAT Rookie of the Year. Since that time he has become a 2-Time ITU World Cup Champion, a 2-Time Ironman 70.3 California Champion, a 2-Time Escape from Alcatraz Champion, a 2007 U.S. National Champion and the 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Champion.

"Andy is a veteran triathlete of the highest regard and well respected by all in the sport," said Ryan Dolan, Team and Multi-Sport Director at TYR. "His talent and dedication are a reflection of his tremendous character. It is with great excitement that we welcome him to our family at TYR."

In addition to his support for the brand's promotional programs, Potts will provide significant input into the development of TYR's elite triathlon technology. This includes the industry's fastest tri-suit, Tracer Triathlon.

At the 2008 World Championship 70.3, Andy led the pro men's field out of the water with a course-record-breaking swim in the 1.2 mile open water swim. Furthermore, Andy was top American finisher at this year's World Championship 70.3 and Kona Ironman World Championship.

TYR¹s elite team members include Chrissie Wellington (2-Time Ironman World Champion), Becky Lavelle, Pip Taylor, Desiree Ficker, and T.J. Tollakson.
