RAPID CITY, South Dakota, July 12. THE age group Independence Day Swimvitational concluded with big wins for local South Dakota teams, including host team Rapid City Racers. The long course event took place July 2-4 at the Horace Mann Pool.

The Rapid City Racers also swept the top spots in the boy's 13-14 50 LCM freestyle, with Ben Sieve (29.21) taking the top spot, followed by Reed Ellefson (35.70) and Jonathan Vottero (37.48).

The relay events also saw success and upsets. The Pierre Swim Team (2:19.21) edged out the Gillette Swim Team (2:22.61) to take the win in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Sheridan Swim Team squad was third with a time of 2:39.88.

Even though Gillette Swim Team took second, they placed first in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:38.16. Pierre Swim Team took second with 2:44.84, while the Black Hills Gold Swim Team (2:48.65) took third.

Host team Rapid City Racers took first place in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:30.99. Gillette Swim Team followed with 5:06.19; Casper Swim Club placed third with 5:19.28. The Rapid City Racers ‘A' (3:25.29) and ‘B' (4:33.97) squad finished first and second, respectively, in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The Gillette Swim Team took third (4:39.26).
