Incredible Ten Page Preview of NCAA Division I Championships

PHOENIX, Arizona, March 6. IN the March College Issue of Swimming World Magazine, readers will find a in-depth 10-page NCAA Division I men's and women's preview sponsored by Master Spas, creators of the Michael Phelps Signature Swim Spa.

In the NCAA preview, Jason Marsteller and John Lohn predict the top-ten teams team placing for the women and men, respectively. The biggest story of this year's championship is that the California Golden Bears will defend their title for the third straight year. Should Cal win the title, it'll only be the second time in history the same DI university's men's and women's team accomplished a three-peat.

The women's preview, titled “History in its Grasp,” discusses why Teri McKeever's talented Golden Bear squad will be able to cinch their third straight championship title, lead by seniors and NCAA Champions Caitlin Leverenz and Cindy Tran. The only squad with a chance to topple the Golden Bears is the Georgia Bulldogs, headed by Olympic gold medalist Allison Schmitt.

The men's preview, titled “Targeting a Trifecta,” breaks down the talent on Dave Durden's men's squad, lead by senior Tom Shields (who also happens to grace the magazine's cover!). It doesn't look like anyone can touch the Golden Bears, even their across-town rival, Stanford, who hasn't won a championship since 1998. However, Stanford is predicted to be in the running for second at this year's NCAAs, up from third last year.
