NEW COMMIT: Evan Vela has given his verbal commitment to swim for Lehigh University beginning in the fall. Vela is from Huntsville, Alabama where he swims for Huntsville Swim Association and is a senior at Huntsville High School.
His top times are:
- 200 Fly 1:52.15
- 100 Fly 50.42
- 50 Fly 23.76
- 100 Back 52.82
- 100 Free 47.78
Vela said,

At this year’s Patriot League Championships Vela would have missed the B final in the 200 butterfly be a mere .05. His best time would have made him the team’s top finisher this year. Freshman Max Goldenberg (1:53.53) finished 19th, and will be a great training partner for Vela as the duo will overlap for three years. Lehigh had two seniors and one freshman (Teddy Smith– 49.56) in the 100 butterfly B final. Vela will be chasing that time for a chance to score in the shorter butterfly event.
