Hugo Gonzalez Tops 200 Back Finals at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Spain’s Hugo Gonzalez clipped a pair of Americans for the men’s 200-meter back title at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Gonzalez checked in with a top time of 1:58.11, just missing the meet record of 1:57.92 set by Luca Mencarini back in 2013.

USA’s Michael Taylor (1:58.39) and Austin Katz (1:58.51) placed second and third to round out the podium.

Great Britain’s Luke Greenbank (1:58.74), Italy’s Jacopo Bietti (1:59.58), Australia’s Tristan Ludlow (2:00.01), Poland’s Jakub Skierka (2:00.57) and Russia’s Roman Larin (2:01.12) finished fourth through eighth.

Need some help here: do the toes need to be submerged on the start? FINA says you can’t stand on the gutter or curl toes over, but that’s all. Does this picture capture a DQ or a legal start?
