Houston Starts Class of 2026 Recruiting with Verbal from Eden Humphrey of Cardinal Aquatics
NEW COMMIT: The University of Houston has landed their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Junior National qualifier Eden Humphrey of Louisville, Ky.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Houston!! I can’t thank my coaches, teammates, and family enough for all the love and support they have given me. I’m so ecstatic to be a part of the Cougar family!!! GO COOGS??”
A talented mid-distance freestyler, Humphrey does her club swimming with Cardinal Aquatics and most recently competed at the Southern Premier Invitational in March where she finished fourth in the 500 free. In Summer 2019, she grabbed gold in the 400m free and bronze in the 200m free at the Kentucky 13&O LCM Championships before going on to compete at NCSAs.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:51.20
- 500 free – 4:51.07
- 1000 free – 10:29.44
- 200 IM – 2:06.77
- 400 IM – 4:25.31
Currently a junior at Atherton High School, Humphrey finished third in the 500 free and fifth in the 200 free as a freshman at the Kentucky State Championships.
Even with just under two years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Cougars as a member of the Class of 2026, Humphrey will make a big impact. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 500 free at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships where Houston captured their fourth-straight title.
