Hokie Invite: Michael Flach Posts Speedy 500 Free

CHRISTIANBURG, Virginia, November 16. SOUTH Carolina junior Michael Flach posted the nation's fastest time Thursday night in the 500 freestyle in winning the event at the Hokie Invite on the campus of Virginia Tech University.

Flach posted a quick 4:18.38 to become the first under 4:20 so far this season. Michigan's Connor Jaeger previously had the top time with a 4:21.20. He had no equal in the race, with teammates Marwan El Kamash placed second with a 4:24.50 and Gerald Rodriguez finishing third in 4:27.15.

Virginia Tech won seven of the 10 events on Thursday, claiming all four relays. The women won the 200 free relay with a 1:31.90, while the men claimed victory with a 1:19.49. In the 400 medley relay, Tech took the women's race with a 3:40.63, with the men winning in a time of 3:14.56.
